Carpet Cleaning

had a water leak in my car and i think i may have sorted it now, either way the carpet is ringing wet and will need pulled out to dry it,

its minging with dirt

so while its out im going to give it a real good clean

any advice on the best way to go about this? good power hose? soap?

Bucket full of hot water with washing powder in and a stiff brush, scrub it all. then after ive done that i will vet vac it a couple of times till i'am happy with the result then soak it all in oder eliminator then leave to dry.

Thats my plan next week anyway

i got a bottle of ''star drops'' to do mine ,it was only £1.09 and done a great job.

Lay it out and put a vax carpet cleaner over it, then let it totally dry, and see how it looks, then maybe some spot remover for really stubborn stains etc...

Done that in the past and works well.

Best to vax wash it while its already damp, will help lift any dirt, use the vax really slow and dry it out very very well, or you will have problems later on.

I pulled mine out, cleaned it with persil and warm water, then jet washed it thoroughly, it took weeks to dry as the foam is so dense.

After that I dyed it black using valeters pride, it looks mint.

Just done mine last weekend when the seats were out being repaired.

Used AutoGlym shampoo. Spray on, leave for 10 mins then scrub with a interior brush to agitate the dirt. Then big bucket of warm water and large microfibre and wipe up the muck, bucket water will get dirty quick so you may need to change it a couple of time. Just keep going over it but don;t get too wet and if you have a wet vac then suck up as much water as you can otherwise use a chamois or drying towels remove water.

Mine came up a treat, will be applying some scotchguard type spray (W5 waterproof spray from LIDL only 2.49 a can! as opposed to £16 for 303 spray) which should help keep it clean for sometime.

E30 carpets will take plenty of punishment (especially the older nylon ones). Take the carpet to your local garage and blast the living hell out of it with a power washer (karcher).
Caution that it takes a while to dry but my 28yo beige carpet looked like new after this treatment and they won't lose any shape.
