takes all the crap and dirt off that washing wont remove then give it a good polish

ever polished your car and noticed little streaks of polish on the paint as you move the cloth? it's very likely there's a tiny lump of something stuck to the paint stopping the cloth doing a clean pass.

clay is a sticky lump of stuff you use with a lubricant, rub it over the paint and it picks up all the contaminants off the paint leaving a glassy smooth surface which you then polish and wax.

i was very sceptical at first, but it really does work, and the nice smooth surface makes the following layers of product so much quicker and easier to apply.

it depends where you live, park the car, and how often it's used. a pampered car polished regularly may only need claying once a year, one parked outside, under trees, or in industrial areas may need doing once a month.

Clayed my car for the first time since it was resprayed (about August) yesterday, and my god the difference, although you wouldnt think to be much, is massive. Was able to bring out a much better shine with the polish, and the panels were as smooth as glass as said above. Will def be doing a clay about once a month now, and didnt realise how it was to do.

What polish are you using after the clay bar?

I use Auto Glym Super Resin Polish, then a Meguiars Wax to go over the top. Although going to look for a better wax though.

I used the auto glym kit last week on my touring, cars 1989 hasn't been looked after until I got, it came up really nice so smoth to touch then waxed it wiv the wax which came in kit it did take hours, but worth it.

I used maguirs clay bar on the bonnet with autoglym detailing spray. Some peeps say to use fairy liquid dilute for the lubricant but then you have to rinse off. Detailing spray you can polish on with a microfibre. Claying is actually really easy, its the polishing is the hard work. I didn't use super resin polish - will probably save that for a full mop. Went straight to wax with a couple of microfibre pads, Simoniz! Cheap and good results but hard work!!!
