Does anyone know anything about this? Any good products, aplication tips, etc?

Autosmart do a good one I use on my sales cars and autoglym do one in aerosol application that's covers anything!

Search the forum using "carpet" and "dye", there have been several detailed threads with pics covering the entire process (including one in my name).
Note that dye will only take to nylon carpets used in earlier models (not sure when they changed) and won't be any use on polypropylene carpet.
