Carpet out

Does anyone know the steps invloved in taking out the carpets in a two door e30? I have heard that they need to be cut. Is this true? I am happy to spend a few days doing it if it means that i can take out the entire carpet. Can the rear parcel shelf carpet/lining under the rear window be removed? anyone tried to dye a beige one black?

The only place it needs to be cut is under the heater gubbins behind the centre console

once you start taking it out you'll see where it needs to be cut, make sure you take all the door trims etc off first becuase these will snap easy. if your taking it out completly you'll have to take the centre console off to.. taking the carpet out is just a pain in the ass if i'm honest

I didn't think it was too much of a big job - a few things to remove though.
The cuts you need to make under the heater box will be well hidden and invisible once the console goes back in. You may also need to make a small cut around the steering column...again invisible afterwards.
So...remove - seats, front and rear console, plastic sill trims, kick panels, disconnect accelerator pedal. It is all pretty obvious once you get started.
Give the carpet a good cleaning with a hp water blaster when it's out. Amazing how well they come up after that treatment.
