need advice on full repaint (remove all the paint?)

dear, friend

to do the full repaint does it need remove all the paint to the bare metal? or just sand paper it and put new base coat?

want do the best but simple method.

I bought my car second hand but the paint has peel of the laquer.

ID your clear is peeling then there is only 2 ways to solve this...

A) Paintstrip the entire car and start again...... This ensure all the bad paint is gone and will not rear its ugly head in the future. Bd point is there is alot of exposed metal to contaminate and rust in the future.

B) Start of sanding the car with 80, 120, 180, 240 then 320 grit paper. This will remove almost all the bad paint and the car should be ready for primer from here..

If it was my own car I would probably go option 2 as this will almost definatly fix the issue and it should not come back again... It also leaves little chance of contaminating the bare metal and then eliminates the chance of rust from contamination in the future

at point A you inform me that open the paint till bare metal is bad because will open opportunity rust to come?

does it can't eliminate by use good primer?

at point B, you inform me that use B method is best but how about the original prime from factory that has 20 years old? can it still good for next 10 years?

No Markus.........................if you leave your car bare metal in a moist environment, with dust and dirt, it doesnt mind what primer you use, you wont be able to eliminate the rust your going to gain.

Personally I would only chose option 1 if I had a lot of time, money, and most importantly a large, clean, heated and well ventilated garage........

I would go for option 2, god theres enough rust about without having to go asking for more
