door card

This area of the forum is not my usual haunt,be kind to me!
I am putting the neon green cabbie

...sorry...back together and have struck a snag I have not come across before.
The doorcard on the driver's door refuses to fit properly.My usual response of swearing at it has failed me...
The 'poppers' all fit correctly,but the top will not stay clipped in to the top of the door,with the top fitted into it's clips the poppers are about a quarter inch too low.
After swearing I have tried a heat gun to bend the card at the top without success,I found traces of silicone when I stripped the door,so this is not a problem that I have built in,somehow!
With the poppers in place,the door handle release lines up properly so it's the top bit that is out of shape,any suggestions as to how I can 're-shape' it,please?

It's not that the holes for the clips at the bottom of the door card have become stretched and that's the reason they sit too low when the top of the panel is clipped in? You can push the individual clips up a bit until they mate with the holes in the door.

Alternatively, have you taken both of the strips off the top of the door panel/door and tried refitting? It sounds like something simple that just needs whacking into place (that's my technical approach you understand).

The tops of convertible door cards do wear out, sadly all too commonly. The fibreboard of the card seems to lose its shape most likely down to wear and tear from use. I've managed to re-form them with steam / cooling in the past if they're not too far gone.

Thanks,Chris,I waited until 'er indoors went shopping,then 'borrowed' the cooker to try steaming the card.Unfortunately I forgot to put the pan away...
It's gone on and is a lot better,in the final I fitted the inner weather strip to the card,then fitted the pair to the door...just needed a small self tapper on the door shut to hold it in,see how it goes!
