removing overspray

whats the best product to remove overspray?

i thought either cutting compound or clay bar.

any other options?

id say cutting compound rather than a clay bar. youd be there for months trying to get overspray off with a claybar.

I used white spirits on my fiesta, only because it was on the inside of the doors, and it was a fiesta!

Came off easily, then just went over the area with polish!

Use either really fine sand paper or some rubbing compound/t-cut depending on the severity of the over spray.

Halfords do rubbing compound for about £5 iirc and Wilko are now stocking T-cut.

An aggressive clay bar will remove it, But will leave micromarring as a result so you will have to polish after.

Surely this all depends what the over spray is on?

the over spray is on the areas inder the rear most windows on my touring. you cant see it, but it feels rougner than the normal paint.

i read that farecla is good, but which grade?

you might want to start with G10, this is a polishing compound, it has very fine crystals and smooths the surface. from what you have described I would try this first. If you still want to jump in with a cutting compound I'd get G6. Alternatively you may want to get some 2500 wet and dry and then use the G10 to polish it out and get it shinny again. If you do use the wet and dry keep dippping it in a bowl of water to keep the impurities at bay. Yes Farecla is the best, thats why pros use it.

if it's on glass, a rag and some celulose thinners will do it quicker and easier than anything else. just don't spill any on the paint

For glass wire wool is perfect with some thinners (won't scratch your glass don't worry).

Menzerna Power Gloss is very good for removing it from paintwork although you should be careful around the surrounding area as it's a really agressive compound. You'll need a good polish once you're done with it...
