Hi guys,
I have rust in the usual places on the rear hatch of my touring. I was going to sand it down, apply rust eater, primer, paint and lacquer. However, before I go to all this trouble, where is the rust coming from? If I treat the surface rust, am I only treating the symptoms...i.e. is it rusting from the inside out?
Any insight into this common problem would be appreciated.
Best regards,
Colm

i read a post yesterday by folk who reckon the tailgate design is flawed, treat the rust, paint as normal then leave out the bottom piece of trim and fill the gap with black silicone instead as it stops water getting in and sitting in the glass check. im going to try it with mine as i have some small bubbles along the glass.
