Metallic paint and laquer

As it's really hot here and the old girl is off the road (the touring...lol), thought I'd begin treating some of the rust bubbles. I've already taken them down to the metal, treated and primed, but now I have to put my green down.

I take it I'll need a clear laquer on top of the green ? How long after the green paint has been sprayed do I need to leave before adding laquer, if that's indeed what I need to add?

just wait for the paint to go tackie and then put the clear coat on

Thanks, mate.......I was under the impression I had to let it dry for 24 hours, then wet and dry it to a matt finish, then laquer......can anyone confirm this?

personally id also wait until the colour dried and given it a light rub with wet and dry before adding the laquer. not 24 hours though, just long enough for it to be hard.

What are you painting with??
Mate we put down the base coat then let it flash of a few minutes then hit it with a grab coat of clear then a medium coat then a full wet coat. I asume you are doing this with a rattle can? Same principle... however a fast difference in finish.

Yep, I'm rattle canning as the area is small enough to get away with it, or so I thought. I'll see how it looks then judge if I've made a massive mistake.....lol One good thing....where there was a large rust bubble is now all smoother than smooth, the rust having been knocked out, treated and filled.
