Removing manky old coachlines?

I've never really liked the coachlines on my chromie and they are looking really scruffy, any ideas on how best to remove them?



I'm thinking of a bit of solvent (white spirit or fuel?) with some sort of scrapey thing (dispoable plastic knife or credit card??) and maybe a little heat (hairdryer), is this likely to work?

when i too the coachline off my old capri, i used a heatgun and then to get the glue off i used thinners.

NOW PLEASE NOTE: THE CAR WAS HAVING TGHE LINES TAKEN OFF SO THE CAR COULD BE RESPRAYED SO IT DIDNT MATTER IF I TOOK SOME PAINT OFF WITH THE THINNERS.

A heat gun on low or hairdryer on high, And some sticky stuf remover, plus tcut then your proberly have to polish the car as the paint under the stripes will be brighter depending on how good your other paint work is like

CLARKO STOP I've just taken mine off,in some ways I wished I hadn't because their are two faint red lines down either side of my car as no2lurch pointed out,and don't use any thing abrasive.

also beware, a lot of coachlines are put on to cover a masking line to help hide slight colour match issues when repairs are done, so you may find things worse than slightly faded paint

Cheers for all the replies, I still don't like them and am going to try to get rid of them, if they leave brighter red paint or colour match lines I'll put a new set on.
