i have long had a small crack in the dash and i was wondering if there are any products that could be used to fill it or cover it. The crack is only about 40mm long and at its widest is about 2mm so its not that big. It seems a bit of overkill to replace the whole dash so can anyone help?

Nothing will look stock to fill it, but certain products will fill it fine if your not too worried about it being 100%.
More importantly you want to stop the crack growing to do this take a drill and drill a hole into either end of the crack 2/3mm since a circle has the greatest area of any shape with the same length diameter it spreads the forces currently stressing and cracking your dash out over a larger area and prevents the crack growing further.

Nothing will look right and anything you stick in there that is too stiff will just cause the stresses causing the crack to be transmitted elsewhere and cause new cracks. If your that worried something flexible is order of the day, black sealent or bathroom sealant then paint over the top may give good results.
Changing a dash isn't too difficult maybe a days job over the weekend, and shouldn't set you back more than £50 plus postage.
Its really up to you there is no real repair method other than one of those professional companies but that will cost you almost double the price of a good secondhand dash and again is only a temporary repair it will go again.
