keep talking here. i used the ultra deep shine (UDS), i found that i work best on paint that is in good condition, where as SRP will "restor" paint , it tends to fill light scratches and imperfections, its good for that, but to keep it looking good for a long time use the extra gloss protection (EGP). thats a sealant and really enhances the shine and finish.

i wouldnt used the SRP then follow it up with UDS.

i belive the UDS is a wax like the EGP which in reality is actualy a sealant

It sounds like I should take the UDS back to halfords then, as the paintwork isn't really in excellent condition with a few scratches and LOTS of stone chips on the bonnet - surprisingly far up too! I'll stick with the SRP/EGP combo which I have used to good effect on my Fireblade bodywork for a couple of years - love it when you can just chuck the cloth across the bodywork and it just glides lol.

My problem at the moment is that there is some 'hazy' patches particularly on the top of the wing nearest the windscreen and I'd like to get rid of it if at all possible? I have some Paint Renovator but am scared to use it as a result of all the warnings on it!

when you say hazy patches, is is dull ?? if so paint renovator should be up to the job, if not a mild abrasive from farclea (spelling) will do the job. G10 compound can be done by hand to good effect

It is dull yes and a bit greyer that the normal black paint. No idea what a G10 compound is though sorry - I actually am a novice with makes other that Auto Glym

Been looking at the pics here and am pretty impressed. I'd like mine to look as good as the above.

Been checking out the swissvax website, so will probably pick up a few bits. Only problem though is that the car is left in the street currently(garage has 205 shell in it).

Is it worth forking out for decent stuff when the car sleeps in the wind & rain?

Yes and no, The better quality waxes tend to be more durable.

I'd personally go for colinite 476s. Really durable and a pleasure to work with.

I gave weezies motorsport a clean last weekend and put a coat of 476s on it, the shine was really nice from a protection wax. Should last a few months too.
