alyman, do you know if this is the stuff you used? is 1 litre enough? or would it be better to get 5 litres between a couple of people?

Aye, thats the stuff! I reckon buying 5L between a few of you sounds like a good plan. Wear old clothes though! A few Zoners, a pressurised spray bottle and an industrial size bottle of permanent carpet dye sounds like a recipe for carnage
Have fun!

wicked and bad!!
do you think we should take the carpets out, and pressure wash them, then let them dry? or, we could go to my work place, and use the carpet cleaner machine they got.
its one of those cleaners that sprays a jet of water/cleaner solution into the carpet, then you just keep working the head of the cleaner into it, and it sucks all the water/cleaner solution out of the carpet, along with all the sh!t thats in your carpet. You should see some of the cars that we've had in as trade-ins, you wouldnt recognise them afterwards

i was thinking it might be easier to buy a carpet, do the colour change, then swap it all round, but for what its worth, you're probably best off just going straight ahead
i've still got the good ol' spray bottle at the ready, so let me know when you've ordered and i'll drop the money round to you
im looking forward to this!!

i did mine ..i took about 1 hour to do... more time to take out the seats and centre console and make sure you have time to leave it when finished ...with the windows open as the fumes are STRONG
also my light grey carpets came out a dark grey not black...i like the colour though..but i only used 1 litre ..more might bring it darker
best of luck

I tried this stuff on a piece of spare boot trim, did anyone else find the texture of the carpet is much stiffer now? Or is there a way to apply the dye and maintain the soft feeling to the pile?

My carpets are a bit battered... especially in the boot from transporting engines/spilling oil etc.
If I give them a good clean I still have stains and marks... will this stuff cover them?
Looks very good but if its going to come out patchy where its stained I may have to find a new carpet first.

mine came up fine they do soften a bit over a week or two and they are not bad now..a litre will JUST do the job and mine are now more very dark grey rather than black but i like the colour anyway as it is not too harsh..the colour seems even over the carpet and it has covered a few old marks but they weren't too bad anyway..l
I am very pleased with the result but sharing 5 litres between two people makes sense
ps munky mine is a cab so i think that you will need two litres to do a touring
