BMW alpine white II (218)

Just checked out a 1988 325i in alpine white.

The paintwork is basically sound except that even this white colour appears to have a clear lacquer top coat that is missing in places.

I thought only the metallic colours received a clear top coat.

Ideas and comments thanks.

interesting... see if I can get some pics to show the effect.

After spending months trying to remove clear coat swirl marks and scratches, a plain colour sounded like a POP...
