any ideas on cleaning road dirt from the inside of the facelift foglights without damaging the reflector surface and light focussing element?

e30zone has almost 15000 members, say 60% have post facelifts, half again have foglights.
So out of you 4000, you tellin' me that no-one has gone out of their way to cruise past that fancy building with the mirrored plate glass frontage to admire yourself with fogs on and all you see are two piss-weak milky blobs under the front bumper...am I losing it or does this need moving to the pub talk forum?

Ive cleaned a set out before using nail varnish remover!
Simply took the bulb out, squirted it in,gave it a good shake round, repeated a couple of times and they came out like new,no damaged reflector :)

never had dirt inside mate, they're sealed up as tight as a ducks arse on mine!

do you have the lenses off?

i've cleaned out some 205 gti foglights before by rinsing them out with an old bottle of medical alcohol!!!! :D just don't sniff it too much

cheers, just tried the rubbing alcohol (isopropanol) and already a huge difference visually.

The nailpolish remover may be too drastic as the solvent could also dissolve the glass lens to body seal.

I also removed and cleaned the o-ring on the lamp access plate as that is where the road spray has gotten in.
