Ariel refurb...

Anybody know a good way to refurb an electric ariel without taking it of the car? Or perhaps blacking it up, that could look cool. Mines looking a bit tatty.

metal polish if it's chrome, normal car polish if it's black.

Its chrome now, how good a job will metal polish do though? And i suppose painting it black won't last as the ariel will take the paint off as it goes up and down!

autosol metal polish
mine getting crappy and alwasy comming up/down every time enginbe started with stereo on, done my head in, do i came up with a mod- fog light (or canm use any e30) switch, in the dash by hazzard spare socket wioth blanking plate in.. and wite the electric ariels blue remote wire to the stero, through the switch(did my sub remote wire too) so now got ariel up/down and sub on/off, push button operated
(keeps ariel clean and nice)

Polsta i want my ariel to come up when i start it up, got that retro feeling. Might try the metal polish.
Ranchero if i was to get hold of them ariel wipes they would be tucked away and handed down to my son in 20 years time.
