Painting the rocker cover
Moderator: martauto
Have thought it would look good to paint the rocker cover in white just leaving the raised BMW and lines in Silver or painting black, whats the best way to prep the cover and what paint should i use?

It's a harsh, oily environment,I used high temp spray matt black and polished the ridges, then painted the logo red..

I guess it going to need to come off then, how did you polish the ridges.daimlerman wrote:It's a harsh, oily environment,I used high temp spray matt black and polished the ridges, then painted the logo red..

You don't need to use high temp paint, in fact normal car paint works well ith laquer over the top.
to bring up the BMW logo and the ridges use some fine wet and dry paper., laquer over the top to protect.

Do we have to remove the existing paint before sending it for powder coating?cabrio wrote:powdercoat...its a lot better thats what I have done a few times...and may even be cheaper than paint at £40 inc the cover
The shop near my house prefer the material being prep before sending to them. How do we powder coat the rocker cover? Only the top or both side?
Can you post some photos of the powder coated rocker cover? I find powder coating color quite dull (less shinning). Can we add lacquer to make it shine?
pls advice.
tq
Many questions
If in no rush can get it cleaned when it is done...also you are welcome to laquer when it comes back to give more shine...do have pic of one in red if interested...also did a hartge one and laquered came up great...
