will do, what will happen if I connected the subwoofer wrong (i.e. got + & - mixed up) as I connected the terminals of the sub to the wires without checking, I know you can check by using a battery and checking to see if the speaker pops out or in but I don't really want to have to disconnect everything and open up the sub box to check

would it cause any damage

i'd check cos it can send the audio signal in squares rather than waves causing the sub to burn out on the wire that runs the subs coil for the 6-8screws to release the sub its worth it to be on the safe side

I would even do the battery trick, I dont rate that at all

My God ! There's a lot of dodgy info in this thread 8O

Swapping the connections to any speaker will not cause any damage to the speaker (sub or otherwise), or the amplifier. It can however effect how the system sounds overall.

If one speaker is pushed outwards, at the same time as another speaker is going inwards, the sound waves can effectively cancel each other out. It's not quite so important with a sub, as the frequencies involved are a lot different to the rest of the speakers in the car. It would be a big issue if you have more than one sub though.
