Full re-spray
Moderator: martauto
My 89 325's paintwork is past redemption at this stage,I have tried t-cut different waxes, polishes and had a professional job done on it and I cant get it back to where I want it.So I think a re-spray is on the cards swhartz black the colour now or it used to be! but I think something like estoril blue or similar would be good so can anybody tell me how much approx would a full respray cost including engine bay and who could do a atop job on it.Thanks

They'll be lots of people throwing lots of prices at you today, and its all crap.
Unless you get your car down a bodyshop for a qoute you'll never know since it relies on how good the metal work is now and how many repairs will be done first, the panels have to be absolutly perfect or theres no point in painting.
Even if your car is what you consider 'good' a bodyshop will always find recesses that need filling, dents that need pulling, rust thet needs treating or metal that needs replacing. Don't expect to get any qoutes under £3000 or you will be very very dissapointed. Especially as your having a full colour change. If you want the engine bay done too a decent job will always be engine and box out, which is more money again.
You get what you pay for, cheap is not cheerfull.

Was that taking it down to bare metal by the body shop? and stripping it? and removeing the engine?
I know you wouldn't get close to that price down here in the South even if you did alot of the work yourself, hence why I said OP needs to get down to body shops, see the quality of work they churn out and get qoutes based on the work OP wants done and how much prep will be needed on his particular e30.

sorry I had it posted before I realised it was in the wrong part of the forum.I had the rear arches done recently because of rust they had disintigrated including the inside the filler cap the petrol fumes were unreal.so any other rust visible was also treated.so would £4-£5K be in the ball park?
Your not far off dude at 4 - 5 K.
But always expect a call from the body shop letting you know the extent of what you can't see
My first trip cost £4500 and wasn't a colour change, but engine out and all work done fantastic,
2 years down the line and the probs that was'nt sorted then that i was advised on has cost me another
£2500, false economy really,
If you are truly seriouse about having an immaculate motor in the colour of your choice, that is fantastic and Faultless, you really are looking at 5k plus.
The bodyshop i use is my brothers and he certainly is old skool in the way he preps and paints, i.e. he don't cut corners, if you want to contact him send me a pm and i shall give you his number, i must tell you tho that you will be without your car for at least 5 weeks, and you may not get it booked in for at least a montor more.

well if it's a sport expect to find a whole world of trouble behind the bodykit i've just started to strip mine ond found that half the passenger wing was missing but if a jobs worth doing it's worth doing right i'm tryin to budget for about 10-12 grand but i'm after perfection and even at that i could end up over
it all depends how far you want to go and once you start where do you stop.
if you get a full respray will you then need new lights, glass, seals etc...
