Looking at buying these components,

But as the tweeter is attached to the mid, will the sound not be as good as they are hidden by the front panel in the e30?

Would separate tweeters set up on dash for example give a better and clearer sound?

those are coaxial speakers and not components im affraid. you will be much better with a seperate tweeter to mount nearer ear level (cracking price though)

Component speakers have seperate tweeters. I put components in the back of my Touring and the sound really is clear.
When I get 'round to it, I want to do the front as well, with the tweeters on the doors.
This is why I no longer drive an E30......

you can get genuine bmw tweeter pods for your doors, but they are extremely rare and expensive

Screw (or stick) them in the triangle bits in the front of the door, on the inside from the mirrors.

i have mine stuck to the flat mirror backing sounds great, really lifts up the sound out of the footwell, if you gonna do it properly you may wanna think about some of these for the doors. pics a bit crap but you get the gist, also gives you somewhere to mount the crossovers
