Polishing or painting inlet manifold

Just got my rocker cover and inlet Manifold off and want to paint or polish is it worth have these taken to be sand blasted ? or are there chemicals that will clean up oil and grit, what sort of paint should I use and where can i purchase it from? If I wanted to polish myself what sort of tools do I require or is it not worth doing myself? Thanks in advance for any info
