Hiya folks, i'm starting to plan a bit of an install but i thought i'd run some of these ideas by you lot first as i dont really know my RCA's from my RMS
I was thinking of putting standard 5-1/4" components up front in the kick panels with the tweeters in the A-pillers.
I've got some touring rear speaker pods on the way, so i was gonna go with some decent 5-1/4" 2-way or 3-way coaxial's in the rear speaker pods.
All running from a 4-channel amp that i was planning on slipping down one of the rear boot floor side bits.
And then depending on how the bass sounded from that lot Maybe a 10" sub in the boot. Which would either go in a discreet box in the boot or, is it feasible to hang a sub into the spare wheel well? There is a hell of a lot of space down there and i even reckon i can make a nice fibreglass enclosure for it.
Anyway, sorry for the essay the real question is: Are 'Fli' any good? They seem cheap, i've heard lots of good things about Infinity but they could be wrong, and can anyone suggest a good 4 channel amp that will run coaxial's and components? i'm not looking for mega dB's so something around 80-100wrms??
Thanks for any help, and ideas about the wheel well thing would be cool (can u get decent free air 10" subs?
Cheers

I was told Fli are in someway conected to Vibe, but i could be wrong!Im in the process of collecting parts for my touring ice project,i'll be fitting some Infinity componants in the front doors, ive used them in an e36 and they sound very good.Whats your budget for the amp? There are some cheap deals about at the mo for JBL amps, again ive used these and have no complaints.I would stear clear of Sony speaking from experience, ive had a few amps from them that have not lasted well!As for the sub,ive never used a free air one but i would have thought you'd get better sound from a boxed sub?

I've heard Fli were designed by Vibe, but that doesn't always mean they are the same quality.
I haven't really thought of a budget yet, was still looking at prices to see how much i would have to spend. (as little as possible really)
I havent checked out the JBL line yet i'll go and have a look.
And i'll have a search for wheel well stuff, i do prefer the sound of a boxed sub, but thought that might be a little hard suspended from the boot floor.

spend as much as you reasonably can on the amp pal, skimp here and nothing else will have a chance.
if you go for JBL make sure you dont get fobbed off with the GTO series as they are old stock now and have been replaced by new models apparently.

Well not necessarily suspended, but i wouldnt of thought it would fill the entire well and i was considering keep the spare in there, (upside down so i can use the dish of the wheel) or at least a space saver or something.

sorry, thought you meant suspending a normal sub box in the load area,
if you have the room i'd just use a normal enclosed sub box, will sound good, loads out there, prob cheaper, then if you need space for something just take it out.

This is what i did with my touring icewise

I fibreglassed onto an MDF plate for the sub and made 2 separate pods for the 6x9s, the whole setup was connected by professional pa jacks and took 10mins to remove the three pods, the trunk is totally standard underneath ie carpets still in etc, i also made it in such a way that if i needed to get the spare wheel out, all i had to do was fold the rear seats forward and slide the sub section forward onto the seat backs with the side pods still in place
i wasnt dissapointed by the bass from the audiobahn even though it was only a small one .

Has anyone tried Boss Audio Riot stuff?
Charlie, are u sure the GTO range is old stuff now? it's still on the JBL site, and looks like fairly good stuff to me?

bit of a shame really you used to be able to get a really good deal on the gto range in motorworld of all places but they've stopped doin it now.
think the bottom line is, if it sounds good in your car and your happy with it, it doesn't really matter who made it.
happy hunting

Infinity make cracking speakers at an affodable price.
Amp wise, go for a renowned manufacturer. Can'tgo far wrom with a good Kenwood job or something from Alpine's V12 range.
Worth buying a chav's jizz mag like Max Poo'er. They have lots of deals kicking aorund in them. Check corresponding websites and see what you can do. Very competative market you should be able to make your pounds go far.
