Hi all,
ok, i've been a e30'er for around 8months now.
4dr 325i 1989 197 000km (around 130k miles i think)
problem is i have the original 195 14" tires and wheels.
they are all buckled... i get a vibration on the steering wheel after 100km/hr
yep, they are balanced and the alignment is done.
basically, i want to upgrade, ideally as big as possible.. i dont want any issues.. no rubbing..etc..
whats the best size? 16" or 15" ??
how does an e30 ride with 16" 205r40 ? or is it 45?
some advice would be good... also... are there any negatives in using spacers.? the e30 has reasonable...some would say good handling.. i dont want to mess with that...
also, with wheels and tires costing equivalent of 600pounds, or 7500 south african rands...i must make the right decision.. i mean the wheels and tires are costing 1/5th of what i payed for the entire vehicle..
greets
Anton

For once I agree with you cliffy.cliffybabe wrote:15 bbs is always a predictable dull choice
16's will fit no problem, 17's will fit too but the ride will be a bit harsh.

Fellow South African here... All depends on your application, but knowing SA roads and the kind of look you going for you need to make the right choice. All you want to make sure you do is choose the profile or else damaged wheels or poor ride.
I personally run a 17" Aplina replica, 8J wide. I run a 215/45/17 on the front and 225/45/17. Now others will say this is not a good combo, but it helps with the economics giving you better consumption and save your wheels on SA roads with the slightly larger profile. My rear arches are rolled and the car is lowered 60/40 split and I don't have any touching or rubbing. Car looks good and handles phenominally.
If you want to take this offline let me know? My dad is still in the trade in SA (Durban) so if you need anything give me a shout and I'll see what he can do for you...
