What's the best method for this? Not the bumpers, just the window trims and around the roof release..
I've heard that people simply paint the chrome black with it still on the car using excessive amounts of newspaper and masking tape.. Sounds a bit dodgy to me.. still.
Is there a way of removing the chrome trim, painting and then reattaching?
Or even another, easier method altogether?
Thanks in advance.

I've got a full set of cab dechrome lying about somewhere. Took it off a facelift convertible, but looking at it I reckon it used to be chrome and someone removed it, painted it and stuck it back on.
That's what i would do anyway, it's quite easy to remove and there's no chance of overspray.
It also means you could do it over a few days, going back and putting on a few decent layers before refitting it - and you wouldn't have to leave you car covered in newspaper and masking tape.

I've a face-lift cab, and the paint is starting to chip on the de-chrom trim, and its chrome under the paint any way. BMW simply painted over the chrome?
