look in for a set of component speakers for my doors.
have had made some pods for the mids 6.5" and some tweeter pods for the back of the mirrors.
am looking to spend about £100 on the speakers and i listen to all kinds of music. not worried about loud want quality sound with nice tight base.
head unit is a mid-range alpine.
any thoughts people????

will you be using a separate amp to power the components? if not then i will strongly recommend it, your headunit will have less work to do if it is power less speakers and with the extra power from an amp, the components will sound very very clear and quality
Infinity Kappa range is of high quality and not just noise levels...
JL audio is also of high quality

I would definately go with the amp option, not a pain at all to control the volume, you just turn up the gain on the amp to suit yourself and off you go...
i have installed many sound systems and have to say, the best quality does come through amping the speakers, much more clarity and quality of sound.
i had my tweeters mounted at the top of the A Pillar, they gave much better sound there, very easy to wire up to there aswell

can you still alter volume from the head unit then, prob stupid question?I would definately go with the amp option, not a pain at all to control the volume, you just turn up the gain on the amp to suit yourself and off you go...

course you can, the headunit still alter volume, the gain on the amp is just to adjust how much power the speakers are getting, the actual sound volume is done from the headunittailoutcharlie wrote:allready got the pods for the tweeters.
