Cleaning /Spraying wheels

As you can see from this pic, my bottle top alloys are a bit yellowy coloured, I've tried cleaning them but to no avail.

Is there anything that will restore them back to the original silver colour?

Second question is I'm after spraying the centre of the wheels black and leaving the rim silver. Is it a case of rubbing them down and some primer before applying black spray paint or is there special paint for wheels?

Will I need to apply some sort of laquer afterwards?

I used oven cleaner on mine, then standard silver spray paint.

once the inside of rims are clean (the hard work) i put on a thick layer of cheap polish (mer) and leave it on there to dry. i then re-fit the wheels. every year around this time when i clean the arches and waxoyl the car i wipe clean the rim inners and re-apply the polish layer. they stay pretty clean all year round and wipe clean in seconds. easy. hth.

as regards painting of wheels - brake dust will eat away at any finish. i actually wipe down my wheels after every journey in order to maintain the paint finish on them. i've been told that a hard wax (wonder wheels wax?) will protect them better if they are only cleaned every week or two. hth too.

getting wheels nice seems to be half the job. keeping them nice is ongoing work.
