i was looking at fitting some speakers on the rear shelf of my e30 318is. But it is all enclosed with metal? whats the best and easiest way to fit some good sized speakers on the shelf. Or are there better places to put them? dont want huge sound, just enough to annoy the wrinklies! any help would be great. many thanks! matt

also... would i need to run wiring to them or is there wiring already to the rear as standard. And i dont want an amp really. Just a cheap install, rather spend my money on the aesthetics of the car and getting the power up! thankyou

u can fit 5 1/4" speakers in easily, im sure 6 1/2" will also fit unless they got huuuge magnets. my mate has an e30 with 6 x 9"ers on an mdf shelf which raises the speakers up a little above the metal shelf so the magnets dont touch it. dunno about the wires being there already, tho i would recommend that u buy some proper speaker cabling for them anyway

tom tomis many thanks! ive had a bit of a better look and there is some more room nearer the edges of the parcel shelf. But do you think i need an amp or will the head unit do the job. thanks for your help!

depends on the speakers you choose. I am running some jbl 6" on my back shelf and they run ok off the deck.. loud enough. Though I have used an amp to power them before and it really does make them pump. Problem then is that they overpower the front speakers completely if they're not amplified as well..
