I have started to install my boot install. My components: -

5.25 mids and tweeters, with sound deadening behind speaker and crossover hidden behind the glovebox housing.

No rear speakers

2 subs in the boot. I am going to try the 2 focal 5WS that i have. They only require 5ltr size enclosures without porting.

Pioneer head unit and rockford fosgate power 1000 amp. I was going to use a PG M44 old skool amp, but decided on RF. The M44 is also for sale.

I built one sub box to fit underneath the roof storage compartment. I have angled the speaker mounted face.

I was going to put a box on the opposite side of the boot, but the RF amp i'm getting is 23" long, so another location was required.

I noticed water had seaped in from the lights as the foam is old, so i pulled the carpet and noticed that water had gone down the recess on the petrol flap side. I removed the panel and then removed the huge weight that was in there as well. Dried the area up and decided to use this to put the second sub box in. I also needed to remove the boot ledge trim to enable the box to fit.

I have angled the direction of the speaker towards the back of the car and also to angle the speaker in the box.

The back of the box sits on the floor pan and the front will be fixed to the raised lip by 3 screws. It sits in the space very tight as well.

I hope it works. If id is not bassy enough in the cabin i may install 8" subs but in the same locations. The amp i'm using is powerful enough to run 4 15" subs.

looking pretty good mate, but how come no rear speakers in the quarter panels? You might lose out a bit of mid range without them?

I am still to cut the speaker into the rear box, it was the rain that stopped me yesterday. By rear quater panel do you mean inside the car? Or where the jack sits?

I am leaving these out. I used to have a 5 speaker system in my Corrado and it was awesome. I have been reading on TA about systems with and without rear speakers and they say the sound from the mids and twetters should come from the front. Also the rear speakers can effect the sound from the subs as well. A very interesting site as well.

I hope the fronts have enough. I have a powerful amp on the way and good SQ speakers for the front. Alpine SPX's as the Focals were too dam expensive at £520 a set. I don't want to buy out of the footwells either and want to keep it standard looking.

hopefully that should give enough power to fill in the inside of the car and give good sound. :)

That's my plane. If not there is enough space to go with 8's. I kinda enjoy the challenge of it. Never used FG, so going to try and leave it with just the MDF to see ho it all looks. I also need to have the amp mounted so i can get the spare wheel out if needs be. I have an idea for this.

Do you not own a tape measure?

The height below the roof housing is 10.5"-11"

Yeah but its not as straightforward as that as the boots crammed full of subs and amps... Just needed to know if there was enough room to fit a pair of 10 inch subs vertically beside the firewall. Thanks tho mate... :thumb:
