guys, im trying to dismantle my headlamps totally, so i can build them back up smoked out and with angel eyes...
what i need to know is, how to seperate the glass lens from the plastic holder???
so far, the headlamps are fully dismantled apart from this. I have had stanley blade around the sealant, but the b4stard thing wont seem to come off...
any ideas???

I did mine only yesturday - see 'Yet Another 335i' in the engine swaps section.
And yes, you need to apply lots of heat for quite a long time.
You need a bit of patience for it. And be quite gentle prising the lenses off. When the sealant is hot enough you will feel when the lense will come off. Be carefull not to melt the plastic casing of the lamps too much though! I used a £16 1.6kw hot air gun so it doesn't have to be a big expensive one.
Oh, and wear some gloves!
Good luck!

was tempted, but managed to refrain myself... this time!!!cliffybabe wrote:i bet hetook a hammer to it
using the heat gun, they all came off really easily! took me ages trying to get the rest of the sealant off though!!
got read more into your 'thingy' write up too!!
i might get the HID High-beam kit too, and if so, there'll be no need for the silver reflector!!!
