Pre facelift rear light conversion

Has anyone fitted facelift rear lights to a pre facelift? Does it require back panel renewal? have an 89 cab

Yes, it would require lots of metalwork - facelift ones are bigger.
E30 in need of wiring loom smoke since April '11...
