Sorry,

New to all this, currently building my internet favourites up I promise

So, can you buy black grilles to replace the chrome?

Cheers

They're not too bad to paint, properly prepared.

I have a painted set If you're interested?

I thought about the painted route but I'd ideally like plastic as then it would blend into the grille, I think painted would look too glossy.

Unless you've been clever with satin paint of course...

any pics of what you've achieved?

mate, a tin of primer and some satin black paint. Do the whole grille. Paint from Halfrauds. It is so close to the grille colour you many not wish to paint it all. I did anyway.

Good option, if you buy one like I did it looks great but you will find the rest of the grill has faded, best to do the lot in one go

Why don't you get black plastic covers for them ... then you can change back to chrome if you don't like it.

as people have already said youd be better off taking the complete grille off and spraying it all satin black so it matches and its cheaper

Buy a can of satin black from Halfrauds. Don't bother with the primer, cos the paint sticks anyway. When the stone chips start showing a little too much, take the grille off and do it again!

No need for plastic primer on any part of the grill, Just make sure you give it a good key ( scratch it up )

for the satin black aerosol to stick too, You can key it up with a bit of red scotch brite its best for this job.

Isn't it easier to get covers for them ... they just slip over the chrome ones.

Image

They cost about 30 quid but as I said if you don't like 'em then just take them off.

But for the same sort of money, You could buy the one Mahmood posted and it will look OE. The clip on grilles make the kidney width fatter, looks nasty imo.

I've just started another thread - if people are interested I'll take a pic of them fitted.
They don't actually make them look much wider.

I have a set that I got in a job lot purchase. I think they are noticeably wider, not my cuppa tea but styling is very much a personal thing (just look at young Cliffy )

Keep meaning to sort all these spares out
