Hi all, hope the subject line choses has lured dozens of people.

ok, lemme introduce myself, im from Cape Town,South africa
I compete in IASCA sound quality competitions, my pickup placed 3rd at the south african finals last year...

anyway, Take a well balanced audiophile grade hifi, think of how it sounds,

are there any of the zoners here that have a high quality sounding vehicle?
not loud/bassy asin wake up all the neigbours at 4am... or hear me now see me 10minutes later... type of sound..

talking crystal clear well balanced sound, with good midbass, good highs, good sub-bass, well balanced and intergrated.

??

Im planning a nice install with my e30 1989 325i.

kef coda 7 speakers(hifi bookshelf's converted)
nakamichi cd400 source unit
jl audio e4300 amplifier
jl audio 10w1v2 subwoofer

im busy respraying my pickup, so wont do install till i can drive my pickup, need to lay up e30 for week or two..

already converted bootlid to gas-shocks, i.e removed torsion springs, so i can cut out some metal for my subwoofer to fire directly into the cabin..

I would really be thrilled for those with above average installs and/or sound to post here or email me directly with info and/or findings
aswell as perhaps some pictures....

Once i've given the E30 a WORK-OVER sound wise, i will write up a full howto thread on it with pictures.

currently waiting for 2gallons of secondskinaudio spectrum spray and 40sq ft of secondskinaudio damplifier... going to soundproof this vehicle.

cheers
Anton

i have a sound quality install that my dealer tells me i should enter into competitions....

see "my minter" for some rather pink paintwork looking pics. i've just bought a better camera so i'll be putting up new picks in the coming days.

i spent a good couple of hundred hours putting it all together and 3 different setups before settling on the current spec:-

nakamichi cd400 head unit, 4 alpine mrv-t707 v12 amps, jl audio vr 6 1/2 components front (door builds) and rear (shelf builds), 2 jl 10v3v2 subs in custom enclosure firing directly into the cabin through the rear shelf, dynamatted everywhere, aerial hidden in n/s a pillar, uprated battery and alternator.

ed

it's a twisted pair soldered at each end - at the head unit to a plug and at the other end to the roof of the car, hence using the roof to receive signals.

it only really picks up the decent strength fm signals - but seeing as the only time i ever listen to the radio is if i happen to be driving and portsmouth are playing that's all i need.
