I decided to make an attempt at my own flush ice install to free up boot space and to make it tidy. Its not finished yet, I still have to build a small enclose behind for the speaker to stop all the sound going everywhere and I got to get carpet. Also looking into sound proofing material e.g Dynamat. I know it aint gonna be up to Pimp my Ride standards but what do you think?

fiberglass is your friend :)

looks cool man, if you need a hand let me know. sound deadening etc... might be worth getting some liquid deadening, some going quite cheap atm. especially in the wheel well, cos that echoes like a bitch! (though mine dont! try and find my deadening thread)

tbh dude, i think you will utilise your boot space better if your made an enclosure and amp rack and have everything tucked under the parcel shelf, and hidden, with nothing showing, thus a stealth install, will sound better as well, and prob use less material. make it look factory, and prevent your sub getting damaged with anything u do put in the boot as leaving it exposed like this is bad, it can damage ythe cone should you take a sharp corner, bump etc..

You've done a nice job on that mate, Thinkin im gonna have a go at doin a DIY install, Wanna make some pods/enclosures and mold some fibre glass 'N' that. Figure its gonna be harder than it looks though, Ive worked with fibre glass before, Love the stuff.

Dont be tight with the sound deadening mate, iv lost count of how many times iv laughed at people rolling up to ace cafe convinced they are the shit with their system up, not realising the rear of their car sounds like its falling apart.

That'll look pretty cool when it's carpeted!!
However, gotta agree with dark_sounds 'cos you've pretty much lost your whole boot by doing that!! That's fine of course if you don't mind that - most of my previous cars have had no boot left when my installs have been in - that's what back seats are for!!
But, if you put anything in the boot, that subs gonna get wrecked!!

I plan on putting a couple of my small amps in the spare wheel well with some other bits and hiding them completely!! Then my big amp for the sub will be flush mounted on one side of the boot and the sub will be in a removable enclosure, so i can use the whole boot if i need to!! Hopefully!

i still got to build a sealed enclosure which wont take long for the sub as underneath there's no enclosure for the sub. I'm getting a bit of vibration and rattle from inside with all the bass leaking everywhere! I'm looking to use Liquid deadening to get things tight inside the boot. I dont keep many things in the boot so not too worried bout the sub but a speaker grill could help. Deciding on carpet colour choice was thinking of red just to create a bit of impact like the one in the other cab as that has a similar install except the sub is in a separate enclosed box.

also another thing i noticed, you might need to double up on the baffle, even its its just a bit around the sub itsself, that mdf wil llack strength and will flex due to the size of it. not good!

even if its like a extra 18mm mdf panal that goes around the sub and even creat a border to the amp, and then you can carpet the rest in black and trim the raised panal in red, look better no?
