Hi all,

I am currently running 205/55/15 with 15" stealths and am looking to replace them to get a bigger set of rims to fill those arches.

I found this site which compares the overall diameter etc which is v useful.

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

However, it suggests that it would be possible to have 19" on with a 205/30/19 and yet still keep the speedo correct to 0.1%, without any rubbing.

Is this correct or am i doing my maths wrong?

Also, as i know little about the history of the bodywork on my car and haven't seen any other Tech 1's due to me not getting to any meets yet, from the picture below do you reckon its been lowered already or is it just the kit making it look low?

Cheers in advance folks!

I'm not much good with wheels sizes but 17" seems to be the limit people got to.
If you drive over a pebble with those tyres you'll probably chip your teeth.

if you look in photogallery
at look at what came today
then size doesnt matter, anything goes my motto.
the bigger the wheel the less you have to lower it.
255/30/20 thats whats going on mine.
major arch work tho.

Your car looks to be lowered a bit already, probably about 35mm looking at it. Your car is very nice, some 16" alpinas would do very nicely, 19's would be a massive expense (wheels/tyres/arch work)

19's are quite big as Elf said arch work needed though, from personal exprience i'd go for 17's or at teh most 18's! Thing about putting a bigger rim is it makes the car stand higher.

Surely as long as the overal diameter doesn't change (ie the increase in rims size is matched by a decrease in tyre profile) then the car wouldn't stand any higher?

I#ll brob just put 17's on, but just wanted to see what was theoretically possible.

The only decision left now is to decide exactly what rim style... :?
