Ok, not that exciting really but I was so pleased with myself I had to share
A little snipping of a Halfords harness adaptor and some reattachment into the existing cable blocks and the original Panasonic unit is out (but undamaged so it can go back in should I ever decide to enter the car into a concours show!!?!?) and my Blaupunkt Los Angeles is working great!
This could be the start of a dangerous process, the stock Touring speakers aren't awful (with front door tweeters and the boot pods) - but it had a sub-out cable which clearly needs something to attach to.... hmm I wonder
