I know theres a couple of threads at the moment up about rear lights to do them, what to use etc.But im trying to sort out a problem that comes with doing this. I recently did my rear indicators red

I didnt do them TOO dark, but tried to do an ok job so they matched up,but the problem now is that im flashing red obviously. This isnt so much of a problem, but my coppers will do anything to pull you over round here, and im always cautious about indicating when theres some muff behind me lol, just incase one clocks on to me flashing red. I personally dont mind, but it would be nice to be able to get more of an orangy glow from the lights.
I bought some orange bulbs from halfords today and from what i can tell, their no difernt at all lol. Now i know basically as the lenses now have a red film over them they will more of less shine red whatever light source you put through them, but is there not a way of being able to change that?
Cheers for any help

I've had mine nearly a year and remember..................................................mirror, signal, manouvre? (spelling) well thats what it's for to see who's behind you! and learn cop car headlights also, and you will be fine.
They aren't gonna march u down the cop shop for that! and i'd faint if they gave you points or a fine first time round!

That's what I've done, swap over the wiring for the indicators and reverse lights and stick an orange bulb in the reverse light space. I left bulbs out of the indicators (now reverse lights) so have to be careful when reversing.Richy325iTouring wrote:Just move them to the reverse lighst that what im gona do

May be way off the mark here, but if you put a green bulb in - would it flash orange?

Whoa check me out, i am the king of hi-tech experimentation - not
Using the best equipment know to man ( a clear orange Quality street wrapper, a pink Quality street wrapper - folded over 3 times to make it red - and my Nokia 6210 with front cover removed to reveal the ultra bright LED's bright blue on the keypad, blue/green screen ) i did some testing!
I know i said try green but i had no green light to hand, and was curious to see what would happen anyway!!
Using a dark room ( works toilets with the lights switched off ) here are my findings.
Orange wrapper over the LED's turn green
Orange and red wrapper and.........well not much, for some reason the red seems to block out the light just making the light really dim
In conclusion i got a bollocking and got told to do some work
Yes i was bored
Thanks
Matt

Update!!
I painted a spare brake bulb using some Neon green bulb paint, it dont work, all it did was dull the amount of light emitted from the cluster, no colour change at all
Back to the drawing board

Yeh that may work.I guess its a case of people trying as many things as we can, its just another thing to put on the list
Be interested to see if Demlotcrew has tried useing LED's with results or not, be nice to hear more about that route.

I actually tinted one of my rear clusters properly tonight, but not entirely
I blocked off the two grooves using a narrow cable tie, and sprayed over the top, red indicator with two orange grooves that you cant really tell are still orange. Need to let them dry and i'll see if it works
Fingers crossed
