I would like to get a metal (not chrome but black) bumper and genuine tec 1 bodykit prepped for spraying at a shop - i am hoping i can prep myself - to primer stage - can anyone give some advice on how to do this regarding sanding and stuff - can you sand the kit as well as the bumper? what greades/steps do i use to fo from rough to smooth - is there any wet sanding?
if anyone knows anything about this that would be great...
oh - they are currently black with scratches and i want them to be glacier blue for a finish.......
cheers

it pretty much is sand sand sand as you say. start course and work your way to fine, with guide coats in between. you shouldn't have to go any finer than 400 grade wet'n'dry to get a good primer finish. some quality stopper will fill any of your deeper scratches. i'm not sure whether you'd use standard or plastic primer for your kit panels - this would be well worth finding out before applying.

i've tended to use wet'n'dry dry on anything metal to be painted as the introduction of water to metal or primer is very risky and has caused me no end of grief in the past. the paper doesn't last as long but the finish does.
