Im thinking of getting a second set of chrome bumpers for my car and colourmatching them to the body work. What is the best way to prep the bumper for spraying?
Thanks,
Theo

You getting used or new bumpers...? If new OEM ones (unlikely due to cost) then order the non-chromed ones... they should be ready for paint (as per Sport spec). If used, or new chrome ones, then be prepared to put in some elbow grease to get rid of the chrome. Not a pleasant job I would imagine.

Will definately be done on a pair of used bumpers! Elbow grease it is then, anyone managed doing this job in the past?

I suppose you could get them dipped to take off the chrome if you can find an electroplaters near to you... that would save a lot of hassle, but would I don't know what it would cost. Might as well get it done right though... don't want to spoil what looks like an already great looking car.

I imagine electrolysis is going to be very expensive, which is what I want to avoid! Hireing a sand blaster seems like a decent idea, could kill two birds that way and blast a set of BBS. Cheers, for the input guys.

Theo, not sure about red de-chrome how about traditional black?
Might be too much with red but then again if you test on and old pair of bumpers and it looks cat plop the no worries.

Have faith Oz, they will look good body coloured I rekon, all the tech 1 sports had body coloured metal bumpers, but they were all black, grey or silver!
