guys,

currently restoring my boat interior and was planning on fitting a stereo in there, got a couple of 6x9's knocking about and an old sony head unit so was gonna whack them in, my question is...

i need to keep the speakers well up out of the way or else they will get wet, i also want to put them inside a box, which would sound best, a sealed box or a ported box (note only one speaker per box and not much space to play with) also only running off the head unit so not much power there either, was only to listen to while stationary waiting for the beer to get warm winkeye

so then... sealed or no! discuss in less then a 1000 words

cheers all

I'd box em up but leave em vented, i prefer the sound that way. And i personally feel that the the slightly 'looser' sound given by ported enclosures sounds a lot more natural sound in an open air environment.

But then again oval shaped cones dont produce clear sound and if you've got suspended tweaters they are hanging in distorted air over the cone so are never going to sound decent either.

also mount them at an angle or they'll end up filling up with water and shorting out

Cheers
Chris

PS nice boat by the way, sweet ski pole, now all you need is a phat sac and that'll make a wakeboarding beast!!
