Wiring in new head unit! please help. so frustrating

Help,

Normally installing a head unit is pretty easy right.

In this case I've just gone ahead and taken the old head unit out without paying attention to what had been connected to what and just assuming everything has the same colour code ie red to red, yellow to yellow etc.

However, I've now connected everything that has the same colour wire and what I have left is as follows;

From the head unit:

Orange wire
Red wire
Yellow wire

From the loom;

Red + lightish gray stripes wire
Purple with lightish gray stripes wire
Red wire crossed with another red wire with lime green stripes

What goes with what??

Please help. So frustrating!!!

the make and model of the head unit would be helpful in identifying the wires coming from that. chances are though that yellow is permanent live i.e. straight from the battery +ve, red is switched live and orange is illumination dimmer trigger wire. either refer to the instruction manual or post up the model details and i'll look them up.

as for the car the purple wire with the grey stripes along its length is the switched live. well worth verifying this with a meter or a bulb however as our cars are now old enough that it's likely that more than one person has had a go at 'wiring' them before you. not sure on the other 2 without looking them up but the chances are that you won't need them.

i did mine not to long ago if i remeber what placey sez is right Have you thought about putting a DIN block on to the wires in your car so if you need to take it out or swop it you don't have to undo all yourwork?

Right I've got the thing working. Looks sweet!

Only thing now is my sub isn't functioning and I've put the amp and sub leads into the back of the unit. Think I may need to check the fuse.

have you put the remote start lead in the headunit as well?

No I haven't mate. Which wire would that connect to?

connect the blue and white to the block marked 'remote' on the amp. it tells the amp to switch on and off with the head unit.

Didn't get a chance to start fiddling with the install till it was starting to get dark but thought fcuk it, I just want the peace of mind knowing its done.

So was in the car torch in hand, getting rid of the ghetto stylee connections with electrical tape and replaced pretty much all of them with proper clip connector thingys, tested everything and all is good! Wasn't exactly delicate when pushing all the wires and unit into the slot after, more a case of persuasive shoving but its in and everything including amp and sub are in play.

I'm not even going to be using my car at all tomorrow and could probably have done it on Saturday during daylight, but im sure you all know how it is when theres something to do with the car that you know you can sort and could probably leave for a while but it means its gonna sit there with fix me now thoughts bugging you all night.
