) what do i do wire it up to the cigarette lighter?

wire it up to the ashtray illumination bulb.
you MUST add an in-line fuse. otherwise you run the risk of frying your dimmer switch if you short it out while fitting it.

Sounds like you got a bargain, I was over 40 quid for mine!
Although I haven't wired mine up yet it should be a piece of piss.
There will be a live and earth wire going to the bulb. I think the brown ones are generally the earth wires.
