I'd like to install a stereo headset on my 92 E30 Cabrio, but I don't know exactly the wire configuration. I've found so many wires with different colours. Can anyone told me which colour stand for which wire?

I did this a couple of weeks back.... took the old head unit off and found a right mess of wires all over the place! Someone had made a right bodge job. I ended up taking to my local audio centre and they cleaned it all up and installed it for Ԛ£30 it in the end.. didn't wanna risk damaging the electrics by having a go myself!

Telecaster,
if you aren't confident with all this then you can go to a good car stereo and actually buy a set of wire looms that all plug together into the stereo. The first plug goes in the cars wiring behind the glove box on the floor of the car (passengers left foot position) and you get more wires that just plug straight into some suitable plug for you particular model of stereo.

There is then no chance of error.

If you want to do it the standard way it is fairly straight forward - do you have a test light? (a thing that looks like a screw driver but has a bulb in it and a wire coming out with a little plug on it? or can you make one with a bulb?) this allows you to check which wires are positive or negative.
