There is a Clarion cassette deck in my is, and I can't see how to remove it. There is a plastic surround on the unit, but I don't want to start prising it off in case I break something.

Does this surround just come off and allow the unit to be slid out of the dash?

are there 2 holes each side in the fascia? if so then cut and bend a coat hanger type piece of wire and insert both ends into the holes at one side and that side will come out. repeat for the other side and it'll slide out free as a bird.

otherwise can you post a picture? or a model number?

No holes Paul, just a black surround. I'm thinking it will probably just prise off, but I'm afraid of damaging the unit or the dash. I'll try to get some model info and a pic.

Pull the facia off carefully, there pretty flexable so it should be ok. Behind that you will see the holes mentioned above.
