guys done a search but no definitive answer,

the lower front tech 2 skirt going on my cabby (face lift) has the five or six clips on the top of the valance that i bought from dealers, and i will have to drill the metal existing valance to fit these clips in... no probs so far,

but the bottom of the valance has four (or five) more fixing points, are there clips for these or self tappers (nut and bolts)

secondly it seems that the existing clips that were holding on my original small spoiler get in the way, do these need to be cut off?? (by that i mean the metal vlance bits not the plastic clips?

sorry if stupid question but only tried a real mockup today and have me best pants on so wasn't in to getting down and dirty!!! winkeye it just didn't seem to really want to go all the way on there.

plan on getting underneath on thursday properly (and armed with drill  ) but would be goood to know beforehand

tanks a bunch

ah ha, ok closer to my answer as i found the plstic bits that fix under the bottom clamps, and still would like to hear if only drilling required and not cutting, but next question is

on here:

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... g=51&fg=15

do i need items 5,6,7 and do they fix to item 24 , 25?

does that require drilling?

by the way i will definately to a tech article on this cause seems to cause plenty confusion!!

E30 mark yes correct i copied the wrong link, but the part number i mentioned are for the tech 2 (i.e your link) looking at the diagram those clamps etc must hold the sides into the front metal valance, will pop to bmw dealer and see if available here

so my questions about those part numbers are for marks link, and i would still like to hear opinions.

yes you need parts 5,6,7 as they hold the side of the valance to the body. if you look on inside of valance you will see where they go.

and you need parts 23,24 as i remember getting these bits, but cant remember if the fit onto parts 5,6,7 or just top of valance. but you do need them.

you dont need to do any cutting, as didnt, just drilling. you sure you got the correct clips?

knew i should of done a write up

You cut off the existing plastic brackets fitted to the bottom of the metal front valance and you pick up the hole left to fit the expanding plastic rivets 17111712963 , you'll need to drill a hole on each front wings to accept the captive threaded bolt which secures the side of the spoiler to the wing(s) 51711933719 ,and drill out 7 holes to accept the plastic clamps which secure the top of the spoiler to the metal valance 5172239711 . The brake ducts (air channel l & r ) are shorter on a non m tech front end so to finish it off you need to change those as well

the clamps are still available as i just had to replace a couple of mine as i've just had to remove my spoiler due to a slight bump though they are quite hard wearing and you can remove the spoiler a number of times without damaging the clamps

cheers everyone,

i will definately do a tech write up with pictures when i fit the thing on thursday, i will also try to clarify what part numbers are necessary in terms of the top plastic clips, the bottom expanding rivets, and the side clamps and associated nuts etc

my main concern was how much drilling was required, and if any of the extream bottom of the metal valance had to be removed. (clarified by keith, cheers)

will keep you posted.

Nav thanks for pm mate

right, seems easy enough, went and had a look underneath today and took some pictures too for a tech write up. the clamps on the side are still there on one side and the other mounting tab is broken but should be easy to simply glue a bolt in there instead.

all i have to do is drill five holes oin the top of the valance for the top mounting tabs, and two on each side just in front of the wheel for the side clamps. 9and glue an M6 bolt inplace of the broken side tab.

now then where is that drill!!

those appear to be part of the valance itself, i do not think you could buy those seperately. however with some plastic or aluminium strip and a riveter it would be an easy fabrication.

FYI there are four of these brackets and two fixing holes on the actual plastic part of the moulded valance itself immediately below the central air intake. (these accept the standard plastic expandable rivets (5mm i think but will confirm, these are available here in auto shops for nothing each, would imajine uk would be the same, thus no need to buy 36 for a tenner 8O
