Id like to make an improvement in my headlights. Just want something brighter really. Had a look at buying uprated/aftermarket bulbs and not sure what to get. I dont have a clue about them or where to start. Could anyone shed any light? (excuse the pun).
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

You want to click on "Osram Silver Star H1" on that page, second from the bottom.stevetigger wrote:I did that to, was just asking which ones to get.......are they good??hammoj28 wrote:Well, I searched for my vehicle and it came up with this (see my link). So even though it says on that page:
Aston
And at the Philips bulbs it says:Here's what Auto Express said... "Original Equipment makers tend to be the best at building bulbs to deliver high light outputs. Osram's version was pipped to the post by Philips, but it still a superb product, with a wide 75 metre beam."
The Osram bulbs are still the best? But don't just take our word for it! Here's what Auto Express said about Philips Vision Plus in their 2005 Autobulb test... "This is the best 50+ bulb here. Key to it's success was it's super bright output - the most powerful tested. In the light tunnel, the difference could be seen by the naked eye."

The Osram bulbs give better light over a very slightly smaller distance, which means, considering you don't need a bulb which is good over a long distance if you're not doing high speeds (which you're not as it's a brick-shaped car), that IMO they are indeed the best.

Ok, and when I am doing higher speeds at night I will be using high/main beam anyway where I have 100W bulbs that give me plenty of distance. These would only be for my low/dipped beam, I have the Philips at the moment but I might upgrade to the Osram.
You are right, I wouldn't be traveling anywhere near the cars top speed with the standard 55W main beam though. The 55W might give a distance of about 200m and acording to the owners manual for the E30 on dry good grip bitumen it should stop from 200km/h in 250m (including a 1 sec reaction time and car in new condition) so it doesn't really seem safe. Also a lot of headlights only have between 100 and 150m distance.
I will see if I can get some of those Osram bulbs out here.

The sidelights give you a white glow rather than a yellow blob though - you can't complain about that!
