I got some 17" Porsche Cup 1's as winter wheels for the M powered Touring project and decided they'd look sweet on a silver wagon if they were powdercoated a dark metallic grey.

Picked em up this afternoon. Cost me Ԛ£100 for the shot blasting and powdercoating (but i did supply the powder myself), and even more impressive, i dropped them off friday morning! Now thats service...

Not sure whether to paint the centers grey with a silver crest, or leave them silver to help break up the darkness...

Regards, Jon.

Cheers mate.

The projct is based on a F plate 325 touring, and i'm just picking all the best bits and bobs i can find to make a sweet daily driver.

So far i've collected the following....
Full sports grey leather
Carbon vented DTM mirrors from S14 in germany
S50B30 engine and box
3.64 an 3.15 LSD (not sure what ratio i'm gonna use)
Super rare set of 7.5 & 8.5 Hartge split rims in 4-stud

I'm missing a few essential bits (Ecu x 2, E30 M3 prop) Once i've got those bits and pieces i'll start the conversion.

Yeah i was gonna get a kit for it, Dave's touring look well sweet with it, but i'm gonna go for a more Euro, smoother look.

Remove the side repeaters, rubbing strips, badges (maybe), etc, etc.

I'll post some pics tomoz if i get time...

Sounds like it will be a nice beast.....I've always loved darker wheels and seeing how little it costs, I might just go for it myself now. If you don't use the 3.64 LSD then let me know........ ......oh, and if you need a mint condition anthracite carpet and trim set then let me know. It does come with the load cover.

Good luck with the work, will be following that journal for sure!

nice wheels, i like the dark grey powerder cost, should look good on a diamondblack e30 init?

regarding the center caps, i think you should do them the wheel colour, powder dark grey, might look a bit off silver wagon and white center, thats my opinion.

actually the silver cap on the right wheel look good, but just picturing it on a silver wagon. , i say same as wheel colour.

another soloution you couldve done diamond cut/polish the lip that woulddve look baaad ass.

Hi Jon.

Those wheels look good, should be an interesting project.

Try Moseley Motorsport 01952 503992 for your E30 M3 prop. Thats where I got mine from, about Ԛ£100 I think. He may also be able to help with the ECU.

When you say "ECUx2" Im guessing you mean the ECU and Vanos controller?
If you have a late S50B30 (from January '95 onwards), it will be EWS equipped, just make sure you get the ECU, EWS module and keys all from the same car, or the engine will never start.

Scott,

The carpet is from a touring I'm afraid mate, I've no idea if the passenger area bits are the same......but I'm pretty sure that the boot area is erm slightly different!

Ideally I would want to sell the whole lot in one go, that includes various bits of plastic trim (pillars, kick panels, and tailgate bits), plus all the rear speaker bits, fold down doors in the boot etc. Not entirely sure on price to be honest, just let me know what it's worth to you and we can take it from there mate.

If you really don't want the boot related stuff then I may consider seeing if that stuff sells on eBay.....if it does then you can take just the bits you need.

Sorry Scott, no can do, on reflection I would be daft to split it as it is in great condition and some Touring owner somewhere must be in need of a complete carpet set.

Sorry if I've wasted your time.

Simon,

I am really looking for about Ԛ£120 for the lot, absolutely everything is there, including 4 speakers, rear plastic speaker pods, plastic trim (pillars, front kick panels, and all boot related trip pieces), and all carpet except the piece that attaches to the underside of the rear seats.

I bought it as a job lot that included some other bits that I needed at the time, intended to use the carpet myself but can't see myself getting the time to fit it and I need my dining room again! All fixings are nicely bagged up and zip tied to the relevent piece of trim.

I'm in Sheffield and am happy to travel at cost if it helps, will need to get my central locking sorted first though as I can't get in the boot at the mo.

Yep, all in good clean condition, I have some photos at home that I could mail to you if you like? I do have the load cover, was going to stick it on eBay as they get good prices on there.....and it is in good nick with all brackets etc. Yours for an additional Ԛ£20 as it will save me hastle if I can offload it all in one go. Note, it is note the one with the dog net thingy.

i notice this thread has become a carpet bagging exercise...

jph - does powder coating wheels mean that the usual refurb problems of thin paint on the inside of spokes is eliminated?

did you sand or otherwise prepare the wheels other than the blasting? do they bear very close inspection?

they look terrific in the pictures...
