Hi

I've picked up this old ICE gear advert read:

This system was taken out of a 1988 BMW e30 325 se. It is the original system that was installed by the dealer back in 1988. All Panasonic gear, including head unit with cd player, equalizer, radio tuner and amps. All manuals are present. All wiring present that was in the car.
We removed it from the car and have had it tested and certiicated of in working order. This will be a great item for anyone wanting to restore an e30 back to it's original spec. As you can see from the photos the condition is very good

photos are:

anyone know where these amps would have been fitted ?

suppose this would have been in front of the gear knob ?

Image

tuner box which has a foot switch input which scrolls through the presets or seeks, how cool !!

every manual is present.

I'm going to use the amps to power the cabin speakers which will be 3 way components in these pods with motorsport cab leather armrests (now black). I was told these were a period after market fit, possibly by Hartge ??

and something nice on the back shelf but not sure what yet.

there is an additional output from the head unit which will power the sub+amp in the boot.

Has anyone got one of these or seen them. Any idea if they really were a dealer option back in the early 1988 era or how much they were back then ?

It would be great to hear if anyone knows any info on this set up, i guess it must have been kinda rare back in 1988 to have a CD player head unit.

ask davidt about his mate, hes got a very similar dealer fit panasonic like that but cassette in his tech 2, not sure if he has the amps and stuff but ask him , personly i wouldt fit the equalizer hidden away as it will look shite bodged in console with the brackets visible etc, how about across the inside top of the glove box ? , the 2 318is ive owned both had panasonic manuals in the owners folders

should be a good rig up

Good idea into the glove box, also better security that way

I had a look at my boot light btw it was dead simple

Power in one side, the other side is earthed via the boot switch.

Have to admit whilst I was there I flashed up the solder iron and fitted a second light in the right hand gap, double brightness now but still flipping old school dim, so I've ordered a load of these 42mm LEDs

The head unit/amps are the shizzle

Those door-speaker-housings are utterly horrid though

I'd just get the absolute best component speakers you could find for the footwells and rear shelf and leave the door surrounds out - or maybe sell them for silly money on ebay.de winkeye

Good idea maybe that Rob, wonder what they would fetch, must admit I did pay rather a lot for them and am not totally convinced I like them, in addition I 'll need another 300 quid for half decent 3 way components. Better things in life for that kinda money, especially as the other car has a set of infinity reference 6 inch components and they sound amazing, cost just 80 quid iirc.

inside rear trim cards in a 2 door ? they should fit as seen similar pioneer gear tucked in that location .

under the seats in a moredoor seems the obv choice or under the central section of the rear "parcel shelf"

inside rear trim cards in a 2 door
might do that then, wonder how they were secured, i might make some mdf bases for them and mount the mdf to the car body

might be easier actually to mount them under the rear shelf

mmmmm

options :)
