Hi people!
Been thinking for a while now that I need to put my car on a set of nice wheels. Currently I run fake alpina's (17) and they look well in my arch. I want to replace them with somthing that will look slightly original as well as giving a modified look.
I like the looks of bbs split rims but find it hard to justify spending over a grand of rs's so I have been thinking of alternatives. I like the idea of the following rims
Bbs rc's (17" splits from an e36 sport)
Schmidt modernlines (16" with concave centres)
Keskin kt1
I know these are prty vw scene wheels but I really like the look of all of these! My main concern is bbs rc's which if I'm honest are my favorite style as they give me everything I want, although they have the wrong PCD. I have been looking and it Appreny possible to pug/alloy weld and re-drill a 4x100 stud pattern. I was woundering has any one done this? If so how mch am I looking at? And have you got any pictures you could share with me??
Thanks again!
Jp

Plug and redrill is questionable in terms of how safe it can be to run them. There has been a good few threads about this in the past, matching alloy composition is not exactly easy.
BBS Reps may be an option. You can get lenso's \ Dares. Again quality is questionable a few zoners run them but from what I gather as a daily wheel there a bit soft and prone to laquer peel.
The other usual suspects are Borbets \ Brocks, Azevs but depends on what styles your into.
The Ketsin's are a nice wheel and there was a set of 3 for sale on the bay which went for £100 a few weeks back. Problem then is finding 1 more.
You have to factor in refurb costs as well. A set of Borbet A's at £250 with no tyres and needing a refurb might seem cheap. But by the time you add refurb costs at £160 to £300 depnding on the place and desired finish, plus 4 new decent branded tyres (another £300) Your pushing a grand.
Or buy a mint set with good tyres at £500 then your actually quids in.

i have bbs reps on my cab if you really want them to last and i have had mine over a year now on my daily cab but i try my very best to avoid bad weather i.e rain and no snow at all it gets garaged, but never the less damage on finishes on all wheels can occur from cleaning products aswell especially if left untreated after a thorough wheel wash so what ever wheels you do get if the have some sort of lip, chrome, stainless steel, mirror polished etc coat in it poorboys wheel sealant i swear by this stuff my rims are still as good as new have slight peel around the fake studs and on the centre cap but i can imagine not using poorboys and seeing the state they would be in!!! daaaam! so in the case of buying replica wheels even if they are cheap use poorboys wheel sealant and you will have little to none lacquer peel etc guaranteed.Rtaylor2208 wrote:
