so i got a 325i cab 89model looking to prepare it for a bootbuild,
alpine head unit
2x alpine 4channel amps
4 x 5 1/4 speakers
4x 8" alpine subs
possibly a alpine powercap
nothing running from the headunit all from the amps
im planning to put the subs under the stowaway bit of the hood in the boot you know the lowered bit (sorry for poor description) 2 on each side and the two amps in the middle so the boot remains useable aswell and i can access the spare just in case. i was wondering where do most people run the live from when your battery is int the front like which gromit to remove to sentd the live through etc im pretty good with i.c.e and wiring that etc but any advice is appreciated very much.

I've run my amplifier live cables from the battery through the large grommet in the bulkhead that the main loom goes through. It's just behind the battery, easily accessible and has enough room to take large gauge cables. As you will probably know, don't run the speaker cables alongside the power cables in case of interference. Run them down the opposite side of the car.
The main thing is to ensure when you run cables through the bulkhead, the cabby has a double bulkhead. Ensure that the cables cannot chafe against any metal parts they are going through, so use new grommets or plenty of insulating tape.

Are you building a custom box for the 8" subs????
I run 2 x 12" subs in a custom made enclosure.
Getting bass in a cab is a bit difficult.

yh rav contemplating on 4 8inch subs 2 on each side so facing each other ther will be a distance so shouldnt get too much distortion etc as for the bass issue its ok im not looking to cut any metal away or drill extra holes that just the way these cars are made so aslong as i get a little im happy.

I have a single 12" in a box that was built for a different car plus a massive dedicated amp and I have all the bass I could ever want. I don't believe anyone who says getting bass in a cab is difficult as mine could shake the car to pieces with the hood up or down!
It's all about the right equipment, cabling etc.

I just recenctly installed an amp wiring kit and new speaker cables in my cab. As above power cable through the bulkhead down the drivers side. I ran my RCA's, speaker and remote wires down the centre console as its straight from the headunit to the back and easier rather than running on the passenger side which is longer. Have a look at my car in the photo gallery.
