Picked up this little lot today.
Not one to pass up on a bargain so just been and collected it.
Alpine V12 amp.Looks a quality item and pair of Vibe subs.
He also chucked in loads of wiring including some cool flat speaker stuff.
Was just foing to flog it all on to pay for some new tyres but now im thinking of putting it in my Touring.
Ive already got some cheap old Pioneer amp and Punch sub whhich to be fair sound ok but the sub has been glued and the wiring is all shit quality.
So im looking for some suggestions really.
Wouild an off the shelf 2x10" box be upto the job for these subs or would custom made be the only way?
Would the amp be overkill if I was to just use one of the subs mounted in the side pocket area?
As said im just after ideas of what you might do if they were yours :D

buy a real E30 and stick em in the boot winkeye

i would say a custom box is the only way, and i doubt you will need two subs, you need to decide do you want bass or space (and security), for maximum bass you (GENERALLY) need a larger box that is ported, assuming these are 10inch then a box of 1 to 3c ubic feet, ported will be required, but this is quite big in a touring and therefore obvious to scallies who will want nothing less than to relieve you of the amp and sub.

for me i would go for a stealth fitment, possibly in the spare wheel well (and carry a can of "fix-a flat" or an AA card) and in this case you MAY be able to port the box, otherwise a very well sealed smaller box will work wel just it may not get the depth of a ported box, advantage is the box can be very small.

you also need to check the amp can drive a 2ohm impedance. and for me the amp wil be fine, its always better to have a big amp played quiet rather than a small amp played loud

why not set up similar to me with on channel bridged to run a single sub and the other two channels running some decent mid range speakers - but for this you need a head unit with a L/R channel and a sub channel low voltage (RCA) output

Quick check of the spec reveals the following
ӢRMS Power Rating:
â—¦125 watts x 4 chan. @ 4 ohms
â—¦250 watts x 2 chan. (Ch 3-4 Only) @ 2 ohms
â—¦500 watts x 1 chan. (Ch 3-4 Only) @ 4 ohms Bridged

You could use all 4 channels to power both subs or use channels 3+4 to power just 1 of them and power some comps from channels 1+2

i would suggest a 2 seperate boxes, fill them with wadding and run them off the amp (with 4 chanels bridged to 2 of course), Vibe Black Air subs are good but at only 10" they will not be able to bit sub bass or really low notes, the wadding will help with this quite a lot.
